I've had the most stressful few weeks at work with certain members of staff and the manager. But I've finally managed to finish this drawing and it's a idea I've had planned for several months now.
Kungfu movie fans will probably be familar with the cinema poster for the film Enter The Dragon with Bruce Lee, Jim Kelly, John Saxon and Ahna Capri. An alternative version of the poster was created with only Bruce Lee in all 4 poses. A third version was created for a SNK fighting videogame called Mark of the Wolves.
This inspired me to create a concept for my own version of this poster. My version is displaying the 4 fighters who dominated martial arts cinema. Bruce Lee in the 1970s, Jackie Chan in the 1980s, Jet Li in the 1990s and Tony Jaa in 2000 to the present day.
I drew each fighter in the pose of how the original poster looked. I used the original poster, the Bruce Lee version poster, dvd cover, a book, a magazine, video cover and the internet as references to help me! I also had to create some of the drawing myself so it was overall a really difficult drawing to complete! I'm sitting on my bed drawing with a book and dvd cover together, than I would stand by the wall to look at the original poster to draw, than I would go to the door where the Bruce Lee poster is and draw there! So I was always moving around the room to draw! In case you were wondering Ken bought these 2 posters a while ago! It's my first and maybe only b&w drawing this year!
I'm planning on doing a follow up poster drawing maybe later with female fighters.
Black ink biro pen, H9 and 5H pencils for the background.
A4 size paper.
Completed in 12 days.
Full view is recommended.
This is really interesting!,I love the ideas you come up with & you have done a very well job with this!^^, can't wait to see the poster of the femal fighters
