Finally finished my new drawing of NBA player Lebron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lebron James is clearly the most popular NBA superstar of the next generation. With Dwyane Wade out of this years playoffs I'm hoping Lebron will lead his team to the NBA finals from the East. From the West with Kobe, TMac, and Iverson out I'm supporting Baron Davis to lead his team the Golden State Warriors to the NBA finals.
This must be one of the hardest drawings I've ever done and is definitely the longest I have spent on a drawing! Difficult ref pic to draw from but I really liked the mid air movement of Lebron going for a two handed reverse dunk. It's during the 2004 rookie game when all the players had a dunk contest at the end of the game. Drawing the background is still something new to me. I've only done it afew times in my portraits but never one as detailed as this one. My previous NBA drawing of Gerald Green only had the floor while this one had everything from the hoop to the arena, lights and the crowd. It was difficult but alot of fun doing the crowd and I even added afew of my own touches there! Photo taken using digicam. It's alittle more sharper and clearer in the actual drawing.
